Hop On the Bus, Gus

The bus system in Troyes is a site to behold. Efficient, clean, easy. There's a stop right outside our apartment that in one direction can take me to the shopping district (think really big outlet center bwahahahahha) and to the other side of town in the other direction, not to mention all stops in between. I can get to Corinne's house, the train station, and in like yesterday's case when I felt like death warmed over, a ride home from babysitting. It's 1.10 euros one way, 2.90 euros for a three time pass, and after we finally get over to the unemployment office, 15 euros for unlimited rides for a whole month.

I rode the bus for the first time with Corinne last week, and of course on my own last night. The lines are pretty straightforward, with one coming about every 10 minutes during the week. Only a minor issue when I couldnt get the door open at the end of my journey (some nice guy saw me jamming the button to open the door and yelled at the driver to hold up, which was super nice) but other than that was easy as pie.

You know what this means? I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I love love love love LOVE taking the bus. Of course the buses in Boston aren't as clean and efficient as they could be, but they are cheap, and you get to hang your head out the window and pant like a puppy (okay, not really, but I'm just making a point about how it's so much nicer than being underground in the hot stinky subway). My favorite thing about the bus? Say you're going through a new neighborhood, on a new bus route. You're hanging your head out the window and spy a lovely little shop that you just HAVE to see close up. DING!!! Next stop please!

I love the bus.

Well I wasn't hanging my head out the window since the high yesterday was 66° (eep!) but yes, the bus is VERY fun! (You Big City folks: Sorry, C and I grew up the suburbs, we're easily amused.)

Here, in rainy Dublin, buses cost 15 euro for a ONE WEEK STUDENT PASS...our wonderful Celtic Tiger bites users of public transport in the ass again...

Good gravy ruth, 15 euro a week is outrageous!

Now I feel that I should clarify that the 15 euro/unlimited pass is if you're a student (sorry Ruth) or unemployed, and I don't know what else you can be to qualify. If you don't fall under those categories you can pay in increments but I still don't think it would reach 96/month (sorry Anna). Also, Troyes is really small enough to where I can walk most places anyway as long as the weather cooperates.
